A night view of the north side of San Marco Square, Venice, Italy.
During the day, the multi-colored and noisy crowd of tourists breaks the solemnity and almost hides the "asymmetric symmetry" of the square (which has a slightly asymmetric plant, but it is surrounded by buildings showing symmetric and repetitive architecture patterns). The night and the lighting give it back a sense of infinity, quite uncommon for squares that, like San Marco Square, are completely surrounded by buildings. HDR & digital cross-processing. Full view recommended. Thanks for viewing. Comments
well though i live just a few hours of train from there, it was the first visit in my life. i have to say i did not find it so enchanting: very particular indeed, surely unique under most aspects, but too crowded, too noisy and too dirty (do you see those horrible stains on the walls in the shot?). and i hated all the tourist crap modern stores that replaced the ancient workshops there were time ago. mass tourism industry is a self-destruction weapon for cities...
definitely i have to go back there in the dead season, provided that venice has some dead season along the year... anyway, my friend, thank you for the comment, and the -- Don't take life too seriously. It's not permanent. mesmerizing image... i couldn't get my eyes off it for like 10 minutes...
i love the motion of people that shows their futility and the gorgeous stable building that will be there for a long time and sure i agree with you about the dead season -- member of :=TreesClub that's interesting, because I found every part of that city enchanting (except the tourist rubbish). Maybe it's because you actually live in Italy which is full of gorgeous culture and I live in England..........which is full of drunk fottball fans and greasy fish and chips.
